Tolerance Culture; Tools & Mechanisms

Grand Launch

Tolerance is not just a talk! it is a practice and a way of life. It is a reflection of ideas, thoughts, values and ethics. All of them help better to produce a tolerant. Then, sometimes, some people think, they are humble and modest, accordingly, they think, they are tolerant. The matter is completely different from such attitude, tolerance is a transitive action, not intransitive approach, in terms of behavior and conduct. Therefore, the true tolerant should take actions and initiatives to convey his/ her tolerance to the others. Steps and initiatives from the person showing tolerance as a way of conduct.

The initiatives are varied, according to the situation; you show greetings and compliment to the others in a conference or a meeting regardless their races, nationalities, and religion, it is a gesture of tolerance to accommodate and accept others. When someone from east or west does a good thing, and you appreciated, it is a gesture of tolerance. Tolerance as a culture and approach requires immense efforts to be exerted here and there and everywhere in order to disseminate this culture. The pre-text convinces and mind-setups play a crucial role in creating anti-tolerance culture.

By the way, tolerance and positive thinking are closely related to each other. When you understand others and find excuses for their behavior and the way of life, at this moment, you are eliminating the hatred and discrimination. When somebody delivers a good speech and you greet him saying; well said! regardless his origin, it is a positive culture and a tolerance approach as well. While we are talking about tolerance, we should be sure that we are really practicing tolerance; understanding, accommodating, sheltering, helping, rescuing, assisting, recognizing and appreciating. When we show sympathy to any of human beings in a mess, or in crisis, regardless his/her race, color, religion just as a human being, then we are practicing tolerance. Always remember, we are all human beings flesh and blood, and all born with nine-nine month at mother’s womb.

Yes, when we eliminate the negative thinking; underestimating, hating, discriminating, exiling, down-sizing, shaming, scorning, abusing, hurting feelings, and all signs of refusing, and disregarding others, in this way we are practicing tolerance. Tolerance requires clarity, transparency, and integrity, these are requirements and more are badly needed to reinforce and support tolerance culture. Leadership is one of the mechanisms and tools that might support tolerance awareness, leaders in their job-sites, who are the decision makers have a lot of opportunities in order to disseminate this culture in the workplace.

The most important problems the juniors suffer in the workplace is the inferiority, being they are whether just beginners at their career, or being they are just subordinates or low-level categories. These categories, whether they are just beginners or just low-level subordinates are suffering a lot of discrimination and criticizing. Especially , when they commit mistakes, tolerance in this situation is important to understand them. Why did they commit mistakes? How do we help them not to repeat the same mistakes? No way except tolerance that can be the best mechanism to disperse these fears and tensions.

In many campuses, schools, universities, factories and in many places in the world, we hear about harassments and abuses regularly practiced against minorities of any type; race, religion, gender, nationality and color, all related to hate crimes, and discrimination. I think tolerance should be firstly distributed as glossary tag or dictionary bearing the good words that should be traded amongst the societies and communities. At the same time, the bad words that we should not use while addressing others.

This step will help better, eliminate much extent the hate crimes and the hatred amongst communities. Moreover, education, we should customize a syllabus addressing tolerance as a subject to be studied and taught in educational institutes. If we managed to create a generation bearing in mind how to be tolerated to others, how to understand others, how to respect and recognize others, we would be happy to find a new life free of agony, free of wars, free of suffering, free of tyranny and sadness.

Tolerance is a triggering mechanism into sympathy, fair, justice, and peace. Stephen Cove said; to be understood, first, understand! It is important to understand others to give them the due respect. Seminars, forums, awareness, and education, shall be tools for tolerance to be widely spread and a culture enhanced by most of the societies. Tolerance is a practice, not a talk, it should be seen materialistically, at home and outside the homes as well. Tolerance is a mission that should be adopted by the leaders to express and call on all the time.

Tolerance creates friendly environments in everywhere, where people are dealing with others on the basis of equality, respect, and understanding, they can easily solve their problems. They can share their social events and festivals. Moreover, smooth transference of wealth, stables, knowledge and trade. People resort to law as the sole and only way to resolve their disputes. On the opposite, litigations leave the disputing parties more departed and more enemies to each other. While tolerance can provide a reconciliation, settlement, and compromise, in which all parties are completely satisfied.

It is worth mentioning that tolerance as a culture, it reflects your approach regarding ethics, values, and morals. In fact, the only people who think about values, integrity, and fair, those people only who are interested in practice tolerance, Therefore, the domain of ethics and morals is the milestone and the base for tolerance. Think over, the others in an understandable and sympathetic way, not in criticizing manner. Extend the space the land you live to accommodate more people to live too, live and let others live.
